The series is an emotional one, to say the least.

The Surviving R. Kelly doc-series is now just one week away from its premiere date and ahead of its official release we now have two trailers that highlight some of the emotional explanations set to come. The series features more than 50 interviews with Kelly's alleged victims as they explain the horrible acts the singer would make them do. Needless to say, many women had to step away from the camera as too many tears poured down their cheeks.

R. Kelly's former wife, Andrea Kelly, is a key woman in the documentary including Jerhonda Pace, Lisa Van Allen, Asante McGee, Kitti Jones as well as John Legend and Wendy Williams. "I felt like a prisoner, I started to believe I was nothing without Rob," Jerhonda explained, with Faith Rodgers adding: "Brainwashed? Yes, absolutely."

At the top of the month, the documentary makers hosted a premiere screening at NeueHouse Madison Square in Manhattan that unfortunately got evacuated after an anonymous caller said an attendee had a gun.

“At tonight’s premiere of Lifetime’s documentary series Surviving R. Kelly at NeueHouse Madison Square, several anonymous threats were called in. As a precaution, the network elected to evacuate the building. The safety and security of our panel, guests and staff is of paramount importance to Lifetime," the network wrote in a statement

The series will air on Lifetime as of Thursday, January 3rd.
