It is alive. After catapulting into A-list status seemingly overnight, the animated Rich The Kid has finally dropped off his anticipated debut, The World Is Yours. The momentum of stellar bangers like "Plug Walk", the Weezy blessed "End Of Discussion" and the Kendrick Lamar assisted "New Freezer" have assured us of Rich's propensity for crafting bangers. Conversely, the Lil Uzi Vert targeting track "Dead Friends" has proven that Rich isn't afraid to switch the style up; the mere fact that he dropped an actual diss track on wax is enough to garner him a healthy dose of respect in my books.
Now, the rapper slash businessman has delivered the latest chapter of his musical journey, and early signs indicate that it's more than met the hype. Like Migos Culture before it, The World Is Yours is focused on lining up a steady supply of bangers for your listening pleasure. Production is A1, as are the myriad features from some of the game's biggest names. Future, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Swae Lee, Rick Ross, Offset, Quavo (where's Takeoff though) Trippie Redd, and Jay Critch come through to hold it down for Rich; has a rapper ever had such a strong roster of co-signs on his debut?
While The Weeknd's surprise drop of My Dear Melancholy may very well hijack some of the spotlight, Rich's The World Is Yours remains essential listening nonetheless. Be sure to support the young rapper, who continues to prove his worth in the game.
