Earlier this year, former Black Eyed Peas member Fergie performed a -er- unique version of the American national anthem at the NBA All-Star Game. Many criticized the performance, perhaps failing to capture the musician's artistic vision. Some managed to find a silver lining and decided the performance, and various reactions to it would make effective meme material. One visionary, however, went a step further and made a remix that caught the attention of none other than Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors team-mates.
In a video posted to his Instagram page this past Saturday, Stephen gave fans a glimpse into the Championship winning team's locker room antics. Ever the patriots, Curry and his team-mates took a moment to listen to the national anthem and chose a remix of Fergie's version for the occasion. Though clearly engaged in various preparation rituals, the ballers found the energy to move their bodies to the beat providing for an entertaining clip. Curry captioned the post: "Let’s play some basketball! #dubnation #fergieremixchallenge."
The post has amassed 4,915,397 views with fans quickly taking to the comment section to express their views. "[DeMarcus] Cousins cracks me up the most, [Jordan] Bell just gets jiggy," one commentator observed. Even Fergie couldn't help but get involved tweeting, "I knew I wanted it to be special! #manifest #fergieremixchallenge."
