Are the console wars over?

Rejoice, the console wars have come to an end. But, not really. Microsoft and Sony are still rivals, but it appears they are at least learning to work together. Microsoft recently announced that they would be teaming up with Sony for the next-gen consoles' cloud streaming abilities. For those who may not know, Microsoft has been working diligently to create a cloud sharing gaming experience for their next console. Cloud sharing video games would mean no more memory space issues, much faster loading, and of course, a much larger capacity of information that can be stored in games. While Google did announce their very own Cloud gaming plans, it appears that Sony and Microsoft are teaming up to fend off their other new rivals.

"Under the memorandum of understanding signed by the parties, the two companies will explore joint development of future cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure to support their respective game and content-streaming services," reads the statement from Microsoft. "In addition, the two companies will explore the use of current Microsoft Azure datacenter-based solutions for Sony’s game and content-streaming services. By working together, the companies aim to deliver more enhanced entertainment experiences for their worldwide customers. These efforts will also include building better development platforms for the content creator community." Sony will be utilizing Microsoft's cloud service, which makes me question what the PlayStation creator is bringing to the table. More will be revealed as the year rolls along.
