Sons of Anarchy became a pop culture phenomenon by the time it ended in 2014. FX enjoyed record-breaking ratings for the series while it aired, and the story of the Teller family became their number one hit. Starring Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller, the series centered around a motorcycle club called SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original) and their illegal gun business. After the series ended, creator Kurt Suter promised he would continue to create projects based in the same universe as SAMCRO. Now, FX has announced the premiere date for a spin-off called Mayans M.C.
According to Deadline, Mayans M.C. takes place after the tragic death of Jax Teller in the series finale of SOA. JD Pardo stars as Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, a prospect in the Mayans M.C. who is fresh out of prison. Mayans M.C. will make its San Diego Comic-Con debut on July 22 in Hall H with Sutter, co-creator Elgin James, and JD Pardo among other members of the cast. Just like SOA, Mayans M.C. has an extensive cast that features Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Richard Cabral, Carla Baratta, Antonio Jaramillo, Michael Irby, Raoul Max Trujillo, and Danny Pino. The first season contains 10-episodes and will premiere at 10 PM on Tuesday, September 4.
