2017's treated Smokepurpp very well. He's made some serious waves since the top of the year and slowly became one of the young rappers on the horizon. Through his Soundcloud releases, he's built a strong following that saw the potential he has. After putting in the groundwork, he dropped off his debut album Deadstarr featuring the stand-out track "Bless Yo Trap." Today, he unveils the video for the banging single.
The video has the 90's VHS glitchy quality throughout the video. It opens up with the grainy footage as Purpp rides around in a big body Rolls Royce before being cut with performance shots and images of burning houses, riots and other forms of havoc. It's a dope video that matches the energy of the song itself. It's a short video that matches the overall aesthetics he's used with other videos in the past. It's interesting to see the "Bless Yo Trap" as the newest video off of the project. The album has a slew of big features attached to it but he hasn't taken the traditional route in using those as singles. Instead, he's been highlighting his own talents through the videos he's been dropping.
"Bless Yo Trap" serves as the fourth video off the project he's released so far. It was only a bit over a week a go when he decided to drop the video for "Krispy Kreme." And prior to that, he dropped off the video for "Phantom." At this point, it seems like he'll continue to ride the wave of Deadstarr for the time being and continue to release videos off of it. However, he's starting to get some major recognition from people so hopefully this will lead to bigger collaborations with more artists in the industry. He's already made waves over the past year so we're sure he has something bigger in store for 2018.
