Kenny Beats' flirtation with EDM was a fortuitous step in his development. Many meaningful relationships were born out of this arrangement, including a musical correspondence with Boys Noize, an EDMer with noted hip-hop tendencies like himself.
On Smokepurpp's new single "Repeat," Kenny and Boys Noize rekindle their friendship from behind the boards. Like much of Smokepurrp's catalog, "Repeat" relies heavily upon a basic rhythm structure, commensurate with the "Don't Over Think Shit" motto hanging over Kenny's recording space in Los Angeles. Purrp and Kenny are well suited in that regard.
The basic rhythm structure allows Purrp ample opportunity for spontaneous creation (in the booth), on full display during a recent Tim Westwood freestyle session. Just recently, the 21-year-old rapper announced plans to release a project titled Lost Planet - which he placed ahead of Deadstar 2 (with Lil Pump) in the general order of execution. Hit us with your thoughts on "Repeat." Does it measure up to expectations?
Quotable Lyrics:
I just be talking my shit
Two hoes, and they wanna suck dick
Blue hundreds, and my pockets turned crip
Like a MacBook, n----s get flipped
I just bought two packs then flipped them
Diamonds dancing, look like Christmas
Red beam on the Glock, won't miss 'em.
