Rocky Balboa and Adonis Creed serve as the inspiration behind the Philadelphia 76ers' new "City Edition" uniforms, featuring a grey sweatsuit-textured base that was influenced by both boxers' legendary training scenes throughout the streets of Philadelphia.
The special edition uniforms are also highlighted by the iconic circle of 13 stars derived from the boxing ring where Rocky first squared off against Creed. Additional details include a crisp red, white and blue waistband trim on the shorts inspired by Rocky’s championship belt, and the phrase “PHILADELPHIA, USA,” embroidered on the lower left hem of the jersey "as a nod to the city’s fans, heart and determination."
“We’re excited to unveil the 2018-19 City Edition uniform for the fans of Philadelphia, celebrating the city’s rich history and competitive spirit, while honoring the blood, sweat and tears that greatness requires,” 76ers Chief Marketing Officer Katie O’Reilly said. “Through our partnerships with StubHub and MGM, we have brought the legends of Rocky Balboa and Adonis Creed to life with this uniform, exhibiting the never-give-up mentality that represents Philadelphia.”
The 76ers will debut the new City Edition uniform on Friday, November 9 against the Charlotte Hornets. The team will also wear the City Edition uniforms at all “Spirit of 76” Friday home games, as well as all April home games.
In conjunction with the release of Creed II, fans can visit Sixers.com/CityEdition to enter to win a special "City Edition" prize package, which includes two City Edition jerseys, two tickets to the game on November 9, a meet and greet with Creed II star Michael B.
