UPDATE: Sheck Wes' attorney Scott Leeman has provided a statement on the rapper's arrest. "This morning, Judge Moyne, in the Manhattan Criminal Court released Sheck Wes on his own recognizance, with no bail," he said. "His case was adjourned to August. During that period, we will conduct our own investigation into the charges."
Sheck Wes was arrested this week after a run-in with the cops for a routine traffic stop.
The Cactus Jack Records representative was driving his Lamborghini truck around Harlem when he was stopped for having excessive tint on his windows. Unfortunately, his woes got much larger than just a regular citation after officers found a reason to search the whip.
Once the officers approached the vehicle, they conducted a search as it reeked of marijuana. Apparently, they found a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol in a bag on the passenger side of the vehicle, as well as an undisclosed amount of marijuana. The rapper and his three passengers were all booked for felony possession of a loaded firearm and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
The arrest took place early on Wednesday morning (May 21). The "Mo Bamba" rapper was reportedly also given a ticket for driving without a valid driver's license. It is unclear if he spent any time in jail.
Sheck Wes was recently cast in one of Kanye West's opera plays, also contributing to the JACKBOYS compilation project as a member of Travis Scott's record label. He is currently working on a new album, titled Hell 2 Paradise.
He has not commented on the arrest yet.
