Ted Cruz believes he has the solution to fix Trump's border wall crisis. The Republican Senator suggests the recently convicted El Chapo should cough up the profits he made to secure the highly controversial border wall.
Ted Cruz celebrated the Sinaloa cartel leader's conviction by suggesting Chapo cough up money to secure the border wall that Republicans have been longing for since Trump's presidential win.
"America’s justice system prevailed today in convicting Joaquín Guzmán Loera, aka El Chapo, on all 10 counts. U.S. prosecutors are seeking $14 billion in drug profits & other assets from El Chapo which should go towards funding our wall to #SecureTheBorder," he tweeted.
On his website, Cruz said that his newly introduced El Chapo will would assure that the profits forfeited from Chapo's operation, as well as other convicted cartel members, would fund the border wall.
Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way to secure our southern border and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weaponsand individuals," he wrote. "By leveraging any criminally forfeited assets of El Chapo and other murderous drug lords, we can offset the cost of securing our border and make meaningful progress toward delivering on the promises made to the American people."
Cruz's solution seems to be a bit more rational than Trump's. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that Donald Trump would be declaring a national emergency in order to land the funds for his border wall.
