ScHoolboy Q told himself he'd go back to the gym once his album was 90% done. Well, guess where he was today.
The TDE rapper shared an update on his forthcoming follow-up to 2016's Blank Face LP on Instagram Tuesday, burying the lede in a post about getting in shape. "First day back was Hella ruff. I wanted 2 go Home after 10 mins but I ain't a lil bitcH," he said. "I said once my album 90% done I was going back 2 da gym.... well I'm back!!!"
In June, ScHoolboy revealed he'd recorded a large number of songs for the project already. "All these songs I've recorded for the album. God damn. Like 50 songs," he said in a snap. "And I still feel I need a couple more joints smH... And all you weirdos who be trying to screenshot shit. They ain't even song titles. don't even be weird, just wait."
Back in February, Q had a pretty clear idea of the direction he wanted to go in, as he explained in an interview with Zane Lowe. "It’s moreso my life after I made it to the point of ScHoolboy Q," he said. "I gave you me, but I never gave you the other side of me: the father, the dude that’s actually happy, the dude that doesn’t be in the hood just hanging out. The dude that’s trying to put his homies in position now. I’m not a deadbeat father anymore."
So far, Top Dawg Entertainment has released two projects this year; Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. in April and SZA's Ctrl in June. While there hasn't been an official announcement regarding which artist from the label will release a project next, Q suggested he was on deck in May. "I just might have my album for ya'll after SZA," he said.
