Saba continues to keep the new music coming. After hitting us with “Where Idea Sing” & “How You Live” with MFNMeo recently, the Chicago spitter decides to come through today and team up with producer Zack Villere for the new song "360," the latest release in the weekly Adult Swim Singles Program.
Over the classical piano-driven production from Zack, Saba shows off his slick wordplay & flow, while addressing his thoughts about having a record deal with a major label. “Dont sell me no white lie, wont settle for no lie/ BE careful when its time to sign the dotted line,” he spits. “If I let you pimp my soul, is my story told?/Or will I just have shit that I don’t want.”
"It was the most boring interaction, 'hey let's work fam,' some shit like that," he said about the collaboration. "This is one example of Twitter friendships and social media connections turning into real life friendships." Saba stressed his appreciation for Zack's originality as well: "He's very tight, very talented. I feel like his ear as a producer, if you listen to his music, he's not using any of the sounds that anybody else is using, and I think his chords are crazy. And from an artist's perspective, that's the kind of ear that I want to hear my music first."
The project happens to surface on the one-year anniversary of Saba's Bucket List Project, which he celebrated with a limited first issue vinyl pressing while on his first headlining European tour.
Take a listen and let us know what you think. If you wish to Saba in person you’re in luck (if you live in Chicago), the 23-year-old rapper will hit the stage at the John Walt Day concert on Nov. 25., alongside Joseph Chilliams, MFnMelo, Frsh Waters, SqueakPIVOT, and Dam Dam.
Quotable Lyrics:
Careful what you are told
No creative control
You fuck around get shelf’d
fuck around be stealth (mode)
You fuck around cant write your albums
Then fuck around and get exposed
You went to the bank to withdraw
As quick as it comes in it goes
