Russell Wilson has only one season left on his four-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. The contract pays the Super Bowl-winning quarterback $21.9 million a year, making him one of the elite QBs in the NFL. Now that his contract is expiring soon, Wilson will have to decide where he wants to play next and if he wants to remain in Seattle. During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Wilson spoke about his contract situation.
Fallon asked the quarterback if he thinks he will be signed to a record-breaking deal which would surpass the $134 million Aaron Rodgers received in 2018. Wilson explained that a big deal like that isn't outside the realm of possibility.
"There's a great potential in that," Wilson said. "We'll see what happens. It's not like it's gonna make me feel bad."
There have been rumors that Wilson could be a target for the New York Giants, although Wilson made sure to explain just how much he loves his current team.
"I'm not sure the Seahawks are going to let me get away," Wilson explained. "I love Seattle. Seattle's a special place. I've won a Super Bowl there, been to two Super Bowls, multiple playoff games and everyone else."
The Seahawks finished 10-6 last season, losing in the NFC Wild-Card round to the Dallas Cowboys.
