Lebron James' decision to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and join the Los Angeles has sent the entire NBA into disarray. In the few hours since James' decision, the Lakers have also acquired JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson. Now, it is being reported that Rajon Rondo will be joining the Lakers as well.
The Lakers have been chasing Rondo for quite some time, and according to ESPN, they have finally locked down the legendary player. Rondo signed a one-year, $9 million deal today, making him the latest Laker. LA also renounced Julius Randle, who is now an unrestricted free agent. In one year with the Pelicans, Rondo averaged 8.3 points and 8.2 assists per game during the regular season. He then increased his output, and averaged 10.3 PPG and 12.2 APG in the postseason. Lakers fans are speculating on what the team should do with Lonzo Ball at this point. Rando may get the start over Lonzo, which would make sense. Lonzo could also be wrapped up in a trade to help the Lakers secure another superstar, which they will need if they plan to take on the reigning champions, the Golden State Warriors. Expect more insane news coming out of the Lakers camp as the free agency continues to heat up.
