Khalil Mack looks to land in Chicago, pending a league fax.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter a handshake agreement is in place between the Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders over preseason holdout Khalil Mack. The defensive lineman has been seeking a renegotiated contract that would play him like an elite positional player. As a result talks broke down, Khalil staged a work stoppage, and other teams started inquiring about his services.

The Chicago Bears have emerged victorious from the pack of interested parties. They will be tasked with righting the wrongs of the previous regime. We're told Chicago and Oakland are still fleshing out the details -- the desired return for a player of his stature. This offseason, Oakland exercised their right to pick up Mack's fifth year option at an annual salary of $13.846 million. In 2019 they would have been required to use the franchise tag if they hoped to continue paying him under the league premium.

Just yesterday Aaron Donald, who some argue is Khalil Mack's closest peer talent-wise, was awarded the richest contract in NFL history for a defensive player. The six-year deal is worth $134 million, with $87 million guaranteed. Expect Khalil to use Aaron's deal as a measuring stick as he enters contract talks with his new employers.
