It's been a big year for the superstar rap duo, Rae Sremmurd. Not only did they drop their highly anticipated triple album, SR3MM, to duo also earned another platinum plaque, and Slim Jxmmi even became a father. While this would be a successful year by any measure, Rae Sremmurd think that winning a Nobel Peace Prize would really cap the year off right.
In a recent interview with GQ, Swae Lee spoke about his experiences collaborating with Kendrick Lamar on the song "The Ways," off the Black Panther Soundtrack. When asked if he learned anything from the collaboration, he said, "Kendrick taught me how to fuck shit up. Don't let nothing stop you. The man just got a Pulitzer Prize."
Kendrick did, in fact, win a Pulitzer Prize in music for his recent album, DAMN. When it was announced back in April, Kendrick became the first ever artist outside of Classical or Jazz music to ever be awarded with the prize, in a moment that was deemed a landmark milestone in the quest for legitimacy in rap music.
Swae, however, thinks he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, and maybe a Grammy, for his help in inspiring the Mannequin Challenge with their song, "Black Beatles."
"It lets me know that they owe me a fucking Grammy. I need a Nobel Peace Prize for 'Black Beatles,'" Swae says. "Making the world freeze, making all the violence freeze, making everything freeze for a moment in time."
While it might be a little bit late, it doesn't sound like a terrible idea. Better Rae Sremmurd than Donald Trump.
