The Billboard Hot 100 is generally a tell-tale sign of what the country is listening to the most frequently, taking many things into consideration including airplay, streaming, and sales. For the last five weeks, Drake has been tearing up the Billboard chart with "God's Plan," but Post Malone looked poised to steal the top spot with his smash single "Psycho" featuring Ty Dolla $ign. While number 2 is still an incredible feat, Post did not have luck on his side regarding the number 1 position on the Hot 100. "Psycho" officially debuted at the second spot, behind Drake's sixth straight week atop the throne.
The track will likely serve as the lead single for Post's forthcoming Beerbongs & Bentleys album, for which a release date has not yet been announced. Thus far, "Psycho" has been enjoying very similar success compared to his previous "Rockstar" single with 21 Savage, which also began its run on the charts at number 2 before enjoying a streak at the top. It is possible that Posty will find his way to the top position but that all depends on if the momentum starts to dwindle for "God's Plan."
Post has not yet released the visuals for his song with Ty Dolla $ign, which may boost the song's popularity enough to grab the peak position. Perhaps if Posty and Ty go around giving away a million dollars to unsuspecting individuals, like Drake did, they'll be on top next week?
