It appears Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg has had enough of the disrespect that Post Malone is putting on the name of Hip-Hop. On Tuesday, Rosenberg hopped on social media and did a little Michael Rapaport impersonation by going on a mini rant about the Stoney rapper.
“Someone show this to @postmalone please ... No more passes for you bro,” he captioned his IG post, before going on a rant addressing his displeasure for Post’s disrespect.
"Post Malone, umm, I'm done giving you passes bro. Even though I like you in person—we've had nice conversation before—you're out of passes," says Rosenberg. "That's over. You got a pass for braids, which is not common. You got a pass for the N-word thing that happened on Snapchat...we gave you a pass even though all the tattoos of the artists you love are all White rock stars, not related to hip-hop at all. So, either leave hip-hop and go make music in another genre, or start showing respect for hip-hop.”
"Hip-hop has been the soundtrack of every important day of my life, and many people like me and all around the world of every different background," Rosenberg continued. "So, start showing respect for hip-hop, or get out. No more passes for Post Malone. You're done.”
The rant from Rosenberg stems from last week’s comments that Post made about hip-hop not having “real” lyrics. Malone tried clearing the air saying that his words were taken out of context, and that he wants to take the genre to new boundaries. “My last hip hop album was fucking hip hop,” Malone explained. “My next hip hop album is fucking hip hop. I love hip hop. I make hip hop. I want to take this genre and stretch it so far that people who may not listen to it, listen to it, and want to listen to the new artists and whatever’s going on.” However, some people are buying Post's explanation, especially Peter Rosenberg.
