In Florida where Capital Punishment is a last resort, a grand jury has served 19 year old Nikolas Cruz with 34 counts of premeditated murder and attempted murder in connection with the shooting spree that took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, exactly three weeks to the day.
The 34 number rounds up 17 counts of premeditated murder and 17 charges of attempted murder, the details of which are well documented. Nikolas Cruz started started filing into random classrooms across various levels of the building, spraying teachers and students with AR-15 fire. He proceeded to exit the establishment undetected until later being found idly on the side of the street. After a two week recess, the school has finally reopened its doors. The students are without question the nation's greatest instrument towards social change, if they choose to take up the cross.
Cruz has been held in isolation in Broward County Jail, for fear of inmates spilling over his way. As the gun control debate reaches a fiery stage, this trial will likely be viewed as a watermark for future cases. A look inside Nikolai's computer revealed deep-rooted bigotry and ties to white supremacist groups.
