The Academy Awards are the biggest night in the film industry each year. On an annual basis, the Academy determines which movies will be awarded the highest honors from the previous yearly campaign. From "Best Picture" to technical categories rewarding cinematographers, costume designers and more, everyone is given a chance to showcase their skills on the grand stage. A few weeks ago, the drama surrounding Kevin Hart's resurfaced tweets left the comedian with unease. He was unsure if he wanted to move forward as the host of this year's Oscars and ultimately, he decided to step down. It was rumored that the Academy would be going hostless for the first time in decades and now, that has been confirmed.
According to TV Line, a spokesperson for the Academy noted yesterday that they would indeed be going hostless this year. A few of the night's presenters were announced with Awkwafina, Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Daniel Craig, Tina Fey and others all set to step on the stage. They may end up having a slightly increased role in the production of the event since there will be nobody MC'ing.
This year's Academy Awards ceremony will air on February 24. Will you be watching even with the absence of Kevin Hart?
