Last month, we had the distinct privilege of premiering OnCue's Angry Young Man tape, which contained production work from Just Blaze, Hudson Mohawke, Mike Kuz and many more skilled beatmakers. Today, OnCue teams up with Kuz again for the one-off track "This Is Not A Song."
Like most of AYM, this track finds Cue striking a balance between his impassioned raps and pop sensibility, the latter of which is rather surprising here, as the track samples "Sweet Love For Planet Earth" by electronic/noise group Fuck Buttons. Lassoing that track's crunchy, distorted synths and reappropriating them as more accessible musical elements, Kuz proves that he's the perfect collaborator for OnCue.
