A few weeks ago, Omari Hardwick was in the news because of an interaction he had with Beyoncé that was captured on camera. Both entertainers were in attendance at the NAACP Image Awards and when they embraced, fans couldn't help but cringe at how awkward their exchange was. In Jay-Z's peripheral vision, the Power actor leaned in for a polite kiss with Beyoncé and when he was backing away, he seemingly snuck in a second kiss that creeped the singer out. His co-star 50 Cent has ragged on him because of the incident, joking that Hardwick's character would be killed off in the next season of the show, which happens to be the last. Omari hasn't spoken publicly about the kiss that got the Beyhive buzzing until now and even still, he's letting his friends do much of the talking.
During an appearance on Strahan & Sara, Michael Strahan just had to ask Omari Hardwick about what he referred to as "Kiss Gate." Power castmembers were piled on the stage when everybody but Hardwick decided to answer what actually happened. As reported by Complex, Naturi Naughton defended her co-star, saying, "You know the [Beyhive] try to come for my boy, my TV husband. He was just being a friend. Why can’t friends kiss and hug anymore? I mean they made that way bigger, so I was there and it was so not a situation."
50 Cent previously joked that Omari Hardwick's character would be killed off by a visiting Jay-Z on an upcoming episode of the show. With the series coming to an end, maybe that's their big "goodbye" angle.
