After an investigation, it has been determined that there was no criminality by Shake Shack employees after three police officers allegedly drank milkshakes contaminated with bleach in New York City.
The cops were working at a protest when they stopped to get a meal on Monday evening in Manhattan. They went to Shake Shack and, after falling ill, it was revealed that their milkshake drinks contained a "toxic substance" believed to be bleach.
The officers were not seriously harmed but they went to the hospital for treatment. The incident appears to have been an accident and detectives are currently checking to see if the shake machine was improperly cleaned.
Shake Shack has responded, stating that they are "horrified" that this happened.
"We are horrified by the reports of police officers injured at our 200 Broadway Shack in Manhattan. We are working with the police in their investigation right now," wrote the company on Twitter.
Officers have been stationed to watch over protests happening across the country following the death of George Floyd. The 46-year-old was killed after a former police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeled on his neck for eight-minutes-and-forty-six-seconds.
The officers are all expected to recover from the alleged poison milkshakes.
