The singer's live performance skills, bolstered by her stunning dance abilities, is a big part of her appeal. She wowed a whole crowd with this cachet during her TIDAL X Brooklyn appearance. A lot of the comments she received after the show included the name of another singer, however. Social media users were comparing the newcomer to the "Crazy In Love" icon. Some went as far as dubbing her "the next Beyonce." While a lot of these remarks were meant as compliments, Normani wasn't feeling it.
She hopped on Twitter to clarify how she prefers to be viewed. Normani's statement is a call for respect for her name.

Now, let's not get it twisted. Normani is a self-professed fan of queen Bey. She spoke of her admiration for Beyonce just a few months ago, recalling the first time they met. Her enthusiasm was matched with positivity.
"She looks at me she says, 'Oh my gosh, I've been waiting so long to meet you.'"
"She was just like 'you keep doing your thing. I'm really proud of you. I'm watching you.'"
