Nike's latest campaign will celebrate women in their determined effort to achieve excellence in Sports. The advertisement which is narrated in full by tennis legend Serena Williams, will run during the Oscars' many commercial breaks. Williams isn't the only elite-level athlete feature in the inspirational advert, as gymnast Simone Biles, the U.S. National Soccer Team, Chloe Kim, Ibtihaj Muhammad, and countless others figure among the women chosen to parlay the all-important message.
As you'll see in the above sneak peek version of the official advert, Nike's is working with the theme of chronicling a number of historic FIRSTS for women in the realm of high-level sports. That includes vignettes in which, Serena Williams highlights Lisa Leslie's first in-game dunk, the first of its kind in professional Women's basketball. Serena and Nike also run Katherine Switzer's pioneering exploits in running the Boston Marathon, and the road to Becky Hammon' becoming the first woman employed as a coach in the NBA, where she made herself invaluable to Gregg Popovich on what is often regarded as one of the greatest "systems" in league history.
This isn't the first time Serena Williams and Nike have joined together in an effort to raise awareness over an "eyesore issue." Serena has been endorsed by the company since the onset of her career. Back in August, it was Nike who rose to her defense posting the above advert, as French Organizers tried excoriating the tennis pro over what they deemed an inappropriate "catsuit" outfit.
