Nick Cannon never loses sight of his goals and dreams. In his new interview with Variety, the Wild 'N' Out host spoke about his marriage to Mariah Carey, claiming that he spoke their relationship into existence.
Despite being the son of a preacher, his idea of "faith" is different from most. He noted that he's wanted to end up with Mariah Carey since he was a kid.
"I live my faith," he said. "I like speaking things into existence. I mean, I wanted to marry Mariah Carey since I was 12 years old."
The comedian spoke on fame and how he had a non-verbal agreement with Mariah that she would always command the spotlight.
"I always used to say it worked so well because it was a healthy balance," he says. "I had no problem falling back. It was never a competition with me."
Cannon says that he supported Carey in all of her business ventures, realizing that he would always take a backseat to her.
"My ego outside the house was grand but in the house it was healthy. I was there to be in support of whatever she wanted to do," he told Variety. "I mean, it’s Mariah Carey. How am I supposed to be? She’s one of the most talented women [on] this planet. I can’t hold a candle to that woman."
During the feature, Nick also speaks on the Black Lives Matter movement, his work on The Masked Singer, Wild 'N' Out, and more.
