Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Joe Montana is reportedly getting into the medical marijuana business with a San Jose, California-based company called Caliva. According to the AP, Montana's venture capital firm Liquid 2 Ventures is part of a $75 million investment in Caliva.
The AP reports that Caliva will use the investment to grow a company that includes a farm, a retail store, distribution center and a delivery service. The dispensary also offers flowers, vape, edibles and THC infused beverages in dozens of other retail outlets in the state.
Montana, 62, says he believes medical marijuana “can provide relief to many people and can make a serious impact on opioid use or addiction.” The former 49ers QB hasn't publicly said if he uses marijuana, but he is certainly intrigued by the business of it.
In 2017 Montana took part in a $4.1 million investment in Herb, which produces and distributes marijuana-related news and entertainment, according to the AP.
