Netflix will be giving a platform to emerging comedic talent.

It has recently been announced that streaming giant Netflix will introduce a new series of 15 minute stand-up comedy specials that are slated to premiere in bundles throughout 2018. The untitled project will begin shooting next month at Terminal West in Atlanta, with the initial line-up including: Aisling Bea, Michelle Buteau, Tim Dillon, JR De Guzman, Sabrina Jalees, Janelle James, Sam Jay, Josh Johnson, Ian Karmel, Jak Knight, Matteo Lane, Max Silvestri, Taylor Tomlinson, Phil Wang, Emma Willmann, and Kate Willett.

While these names may seem mostly unfamiliar, each comic has made a name for themselves in their respective field, as many of these talents are touring nationally as a headlining act in stand-up comedy shows. Furthermore, Michelle Buteau, Sam Jay, and Josh Johnson have also been featured on Comedy Centre with their own half-hour specials.

Netflix has been investing a lot of their attention into developing stand-up comedy material, as they recently debuted The Standups, while also committing to release one stand-up special a week. With this upcoming series, the company will be offering a veritable grab bag of comedy styles and personalities to meet the increasingly diverse interest and tastes of their subscribers.

The series aims to capture an genuine stand up set, which usually run for 15 minutes at length, giving the proceedings an air of authenticity.
