Hasan Minhaj makes history with his upcoming Netflix series.

Just the other day we posted on Netflix's plan to release 700 movies and series in 2018 alone. Today, yet another announcement from the streaming giant follows up on their promise, after The Daily Show's correspondent Hasan Minhaj is set to host a weekly talk show. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Netflix has ordered 32 episodes set to launch later this year.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the Netflix family as the country braces for another election season — and like you, I cannot wait to find out who Putin picks this time," Hasan joked in a statement announcing the news.

The series will show Hasan's exploration of modern culture and the political landscape in a sincere fashion.

"I've been a big fan of Hasan's for many years," Netflix's VP of content, Bela Bajaria, said. "He's a phenomenal writer with a distinct point of view [and] he is a brilliant performer, who is hilarious both onstage and off. And more importantly, he isn't afraid to share his thoughtful voice and unique perspective."

Hasan will be the first Indian-American to host a comedy show.

This upcoming series is yet another talk-show for the platform as Netflix already has My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale, Bill Nye Saves the World and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
