"When They See Us" premieres May 31st.

Netflix has done it again when it comes to its stellar original content helmed by critically acclaimed directors. The latest offering had by the streaming service is the upcoming series When They See Us created by Ava DuVernay known for Selma, The 13th and A Wrinkle In Time. The show follows the true story of the Central Park Five, a group of coloured teenagers who in 1989 were convicted of a rape they did not do.

The under three-minute trailer seen below is both chilling and emotional as it depicts the family, court, and life happenings of the five young men as they try and defend themselves against a harsh system that doesn't care if they're innocent.

"The four-part limited series will focus on the five teenagers from Harlem -- Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise. Beginning in the spring of 1989, when the teenagers were first questioned about the incident, the series will span 25 years, highlighting their exoneration in 2002 and the settlement reached with the city of New York in 2014," the description reads.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of when the events conspired. Watch the full first look below.
