It's XO tour life. Lil Uzi Vert, an honorary XO member after heading on tour with The Weeknd and haphazardly naming his single after it (and in turn, it becoming one of the biggest records of the year, seemingly by accident), is joined by a veritable XO member, NAV, on this new collaboration "Wanted You."
We found out about the record's existence and its imminent plans to hit the world wide web last night, and it arrives this morning with an official Spotify stream-- that may or may not be accessible to you, depending on your location. Otherwise, you'll definitely be able to stream this cut on any streaming platform when it hits Midnight. For those of you that are in that boat, let me describe the sonic experience for you. Or else you can use your stealthy-sleuthing internet skillz to try to find it (*insert shrug emoji*).
Vibrating keys kick off the record, with a little intro from Lil Uzi, who is on the phone with a girl, letting her know he is 'otw.' Nav's melodic flow details the luxurious lifestyle he can afford for any girl he's with, while also putting down any fan-girl that wants to slide into his DMs, or any type of groupie shit. The shaking keys are carried through out the beat, with punctuations of drums and shimmering hi-hats. Lil Uzi Vert backs up Nav's sentiments, basically exclaiming that he doesn't need no girl, "Stevie Wonder, I can't see you," he sing-song raps, before his flow suddenly picks up pace.
The two rappers actually exchange bars towards the end: "Hit it from the back while Uzi stand in front of you," Nav says, while Uzi responds: "23, but I had her when I was 22," "I can't wife that girl she fucked like 20 dudes," Nav replies.
Let us know if this collaboration lives up to your expectations.
Quotable Lyrics
You hit me on my DM like a fangirl
Did you want me or did you want these bands, girl?
Now I know you just another Instagram girl
She almost made me think that all she want is me
