Nas has been steadily expanding his brand to maintain a worldwide presence and his latest project is the perfect example of that. While he's a household name in America, Nas is looking to impact a major market by transitioning to India's mainstream. He is the executive producer of Gully Boy, a new film that was inspired by Divine's career as one of the most well-known rappers from India. Coinciding with the Bollywood release of Gully Boy, Nas released a new track with Divine, Naezy and Ranveer Singh last week.
Divine has listed Nas as one of his major influences growing up, so it makes sense for the two to team up on a new single. "NY Se Mumbai" starts out with a verse from Nas before heading into sections from Divine, Naezy and Singh. Mixing between English and Hindi, this new track is one of the most original ones you'll hear today.
Quotable Lyrics:
I'm still mourning losses, still traumatized
My psychological trauma is now monetized
My life in a rap song is idolized
The price of that rap song at Spotify
People opinion don't faze me
Dislikes don't dissuade me
Even when they try to paint me
Out to be something I'm not, I stay me
