Nas has been expanding his creative efforts recently, although he still makes time for the occasional guest verse. Next on his ever expanding list of creative accomplishments is executive producing a full-length movie, titled “The Land.”
The first teaser trailer (below) gives us a first look at the story of Cisco and his friends, disaffected skateboarders trying to find their way in the depressed city of Cleveland (guess LeBron isn’t the only one who calls it “The Land”). From the trailer, the story looks to be similar to 2015’s “Dope,” although a bit less irreverent.
Erykah Badu and Michael K. Williams make short appearances in the trailer, and the list of artists who will contribute new music for the soundtrack is as impressive as you would expect from a Nas-backed film. The soundtrack will include music from Kanye West, Nas, Pusha T, French Montana, Erykah Badu, Machine Gun Kelly (who also has a cameo in the film) and more.
The movie and soundtrack hitt select theaters and VOD platforms on July 29, so we won’t have too long to wait. How does the film look so far?
