Michelle was ready to leave the White House.

Last night, Michelle Obama continued her extended tour for her new memoir, Becoming, on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The late-nithgt host held up a photo of her and Barack at the inauguration to which she replied, "yeah, it's like 'Bye Felicia.'" She extrapolated:

A lot was going on that day. That was a day. And right before that, my daughters' friends decided they needed a sleepover for the last day. I was like 'Are you guys kidding me? We're leaving. You gotta take all your stuff, pick it up. The blankets, the bears.' They're all crying, I'm like 'Get out. We've got to go!' So there was that and then the Tiffany's box. It was just, you know, a lot.

The former first lady also addressed the more personal aspects of the book, including the toll that presidential political responsibility had on her and Barack's marriage: "marriage counselling was a turning point for me, understanding that it wasn't up to my husband to make me happy, that I had to fill myself up and put myself higher on my priority list." She wants to get this stuff out there for "young people," so that they can know just how much of a slog marriage is: "I don't want young people to quit the minute they have a hardship."
