Metro Boomin explains how he came up with his name and shows love to Solange.

After announcing that he would be entering retirement last year, Metro Boomin officially came back with his album Not All Heroes Wear Capes. The 2018 effort was very well-received, featuring some star-studded guests in Offset, Gunna, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, and more. The beatmaker has produced so many of our favorite songs that it's inevitable that he will continue to return with heat on a yearly basis. As long as he doesn't head back into retirement, Metro is a go-to for a number of Atlanta's finest. Hailing from St. Louis himself, he explained that his origins actually helped inspire how he chose his artist name.

During a Q&A session with fans on Twitter, Young Metro let people know how he came up with his name. "Metro because I’m from St. Louis and I added the Boomin along the way because of @ojdajuiceman32," said the producer. Before informing fans that he has formal knowledge on music theory and production, Metro revealed what his favorite non-rap album of the year is, noting that he's a big fan of Solange. He doesn't specify what his favorite hip-hop release of the year has been so far but When I Get Home takes the cake for all other genres.

The Q&A session is still ongoing. If you have a question for Metro Boomin, send it through while he's still checking his mentions!
