While Metro Boomin was absent for the majority of 2017, he came back stronger than ever with the release of his debut album, Not All Heroes Wear Capes. The producer initially announced his retirement earlier in this year. Keeping to his word, Metro remained low-key while he wrapped up the project. Now, he's linking up with another one of the game's hottest producers to form a new production group.
Expect to see production credit from Icey Boyz everywhere in 2019. Metro Boomin and Southside have joined forces to form a new production duo under the name Icey Boyz. Metro took to Instagram to make the announcement.
"METRO BOOMIN & SOUTHSIDE NEW PRODUCTION DUO “SO ICEY BOYZ” ITS OFFICIAL," Metro wrote alongside a photo of himself and Southside. "DROP SOME 🔥🔥🔥 IF YOU READY."
The partnership between the two renowned producers shouldn't come as a shock. The two of them have been producing alongside each other as far back as 2013. The two worked closely together on Future's DS2 on tracks like "Groupies," "Lil One," "Stick Talk," "Blow A Bag," and "Kno The Meaning." Their most recently documented collaborative effort was on the single off of Metro's joint project with Big Sean, Double Or Nothing, "Pull Up N Wreck."
Keep your eyes peeled for new music from the two producers. Hopefully, we get to hear the first official Icey Boyz beat in 2019 if not earlier.
