Earlier this week, Beyonce's father announced that he's bringing a Destiny's Child musical to life that will follow his perspective on the rise of the biggest girl band and how he managed the girls to stardom.
"I want to pull back the curtain," he explained. "I feel it's time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I've had as a husband, father and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams—those of mine and others."
Now just a few days later, Mathew has spoken on the involvement of the members of Destiny's Child, most notably his daughter Beyonce, as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. “We have directly and indirectly spoken — not only Beyoncé, Kelly [Rowland] and Michelle [Williams] or their representatives — but also some of the former members of the group,” he told Page Six. “We’ve given them the opportunity to be as much involved as they’d like, or [have] as little involvement as they’d like.”
The musical is in its very early stages as the script is still being written. “Everybody understands this is my perspective, not their perspective,” he added. “The girls were very young when they got into this business, so a lot of this perspective, they didn’t really understand." Once the script has gotten to a better stage, Mathew will let the woman “review it," adding, “I wouldn’t want to put anything out that didn’t have everyone’s support.”
