At the beginning of March, Marvel Studios began a hunt to cast the MCU's first openly gay superhero. Though they failed to reveal the identity of said superhero, it was revealed that he would be featured in their upcoming film The Eternals. Now, a new rumor posted on HYPEBEAST indicates that the hero in question is Hercules, who is speculated to be the film's lead character. The news comes on the heels of Angelina Jolie's involvement in the project, with many fans theorizing that she'll be playing the part of Sersei, an immensely powerful "Eternal."
For what it's worth, it might be a minute before Marvel outright confirms the inclusion of Hercules in The Eternals. HYPEBEAST claims that the casting sheet will keep his inclusion a secret, giving him an innocuous codename. And with studio has been actively seeking an openly gay actor to land the role, it's likely that they'll want to make this announcement on their own terms.
For what it's worth, Hercules' comic book counterpart is technically bisexual, though it's unclear whether Marvel will take creative liberties at their discretion. After all, Greek Gods and their descendants are hedonistic beings to the core, and there's no telling what Herc's mythological inspiration may have bedded. What do you think about this one? Any interest in catching The Eternals?
