It's no secret that Marvel's superhero catalog has meant big bucks where Hollywood box offices are concerned. Beginning in earnest with 2008's Iron Man, the studio has rifled off a non-stop barrage of hits, including the crossover films in the Avengers franchise. With storylines that feature multiple heroes including the aforementioned alter ego of billionaire Tony Stark, as well as personalities like Captain America and the Hulk, the Avengers series is now gearing up for the next chapter in its saga, presenting fans with a nearly two-and-a-half minute trailer that dropped earlier today.
From what we can tell from the footage, this looks to be another spectacular addition to a franchise that has grossed several billion dollars worldwide after just two big screen installments. In the trailer, you see some new faces mixing with the familiar ones, such as Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange and Tom Holland's Spider-Man. There's also a man we've yet to see in any Marvel movie, and that's Chadwick Boseman, who is set to star as the eponymous hero in this spring's Black Panther film adaptation. While we'd like to keep the contents of the trailer spoiler-free for those interested, let's just say that, from a visual standpoint, this new movie looks uh-mazing. Check it out in full below.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the intense hype surrounding this Marvel creation could very well make it into the studio's most hyped movie in quite some time - potentially ever. Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who both worked on 2016's Captain America: Civil War, have penned the script for Infinity War, which is clearly aiming to be the most eye-popping edition of this franchise that carries immense worldwide popularity with it. It will no doubt be a box office success, just on the strength of its brand alone, but here's hoping that fans will get a compelling on-screen product behind all of the CGI pyrotechnics.
