The queen diva that is Mariah Carey opted for a low-key birthday festivity that just included her twins Moroccan and Monroe, boyfriend Bryan Tanaka and some of her hard-working team. According to Page Six, Mariah - who doesn't celebrate birthdays, just anniversaries - ringed in her 49th year at Tao Uptown, a popular Asian fusion restaurant in New York.
“Mariah was seated at the head of the rose-petal-layered table under the Buddha statue," a source told the publication. "The twins led a ‘happy anniversary’ toast to Mariah.”
As for why Mariah calls her birthdays anniversaries, the Caution singer prefers to celebrate the day she came into the world rather than getting older. "I don’t count years but I definitely rebuke them...I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling.’
Not too long ago, Mariah revealed that she plays Christmas music every single day which leaves us curious as to whether she played a holiday jingle on her born day anniversary.
"Everybody who is with me in Aspen, they have to listen to Christmas music 24 hours a day," she previously stated. "Christmas is very important to me. I try to make it fun for everybody – I literally have Santa Claus out there and real reindeer. I’m not making this up!"
