The singer's efforts were a positive force in Mac's life.

Mac Miller's death blindsided his fans and community. Some of those who sought to place the blame on someone targetted Ariana Grande. She was accused of leaving him hanging in a difficult situation, essentially giving up on him during his journey to sobriety and shacking up with one of his friends without consideration.

One of the rapper's homies, Shane Powers, brought the situation to light on his podcast The Shane Show. From what he experienced as someone who befriended Mac in LA and witnessed intimate parts of his life as a close friend, Powers concludes that the negative public opinion of Ariana Grande is completely twisted.

"They were very much in love and I have to say, she was incredible when he was first sobering up. She was a f*cking G to him. There could not have been anybody more supportive of him being sober than Ariana. I saw that, I was around it. I took phone calls from her. 'How do I help,' 'what do I do?'"

In his opinion, nobody could have filled this slot any better than she did.

"This little girl was unbelievably involved and helpful to him being healthy. Because whether he was an addict of not, the way that Mac partied was not healthy. I gotta tell you, man, there was no one in his life more ready to go to the wall for him when it came to him being sober. She was an unbelievably stabilizing force in his life."

Having a strong support group is an essential factor on the path to sobriety. The blame placed on Ariana, regardless of whether Powers' testimony is valid, is unreasonable at best and, quite frankly, misogynistic.
