Sad news is coming out of Los Angeles this morning after a young girl attended Salvador B. Castro Middle School and opened fire, shooting a 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, Fairfield Citizen reports.
The publication says the young boy was transported to a trauma centre under critical condition while the girl was taken to a hospital with stable conditions. A 30-year-old woman was reported to have injuries from unspecified reasons.
The young girl was arrested and escorted from the grounds shortly after she fired shots around 9 a.m. "With the suspect in custody, the situation is under control," Sgt. Edward Bernal of the Los Angeles Unified School District Police Department said.
Police blocked off the school while they searched the school to recover the weapon. "I'm just hoping it has nothing to do with [my son]," Gloria Echeverria said while she was waiting behind police tape. "I'm just scared for all the kids — school is supposed to be a safe place for them, and apparently it's not."
