Lloyd Banks has had a storied career, gaining attention and love from fans for his solo projects as well as his connection to G-Unit. Becoming a well-known figure among East Coast hip-hop fans, the New York emcee appears to be ready to hang up his gloves (or his microphone in this case.) While the news is shocking and unexpected considering Banks likely still has a lot left in the tank, he has been in the game for several decades and the industry can currently take a toll on you.
Lloyd took to social media to make the surprising news in a series of tweets writing, "I fell in love with Hip Hop over 25 years ago..it was that thing I turned to during good times and bad..just wanna say thank you to the artist B4 me that inspired me..and send my appreciation to everyone that supported me till this day THANK YOU!!" While this message does not directly allude to an impending retirement, the following tweet seems to set things in stone as Banks writes, "With that being said..I think it’s time to lay it down."
This appears to be a clear retirement speech from the G-Unit member, leaving behind music for good. While he may decide to change his mind in the future like many other musicians who have seemingly given up the craft, we're lucky to have been blessed with the many classics he has provided over the years.
