Lil Wayne is gearing up for "Tha Carter V" launch.

Lil Wayne's officially able to release the highly anticipated fifth installment in his Tha Carter album series. The rapper was freed from his Cash Money contract which was what was holding him back from dropping in the first place. Fans were expecting the album to drop this past Friday after a fake release date surfaced on the web. However, it looks like the album could be coming soon as the rapper is set to perform on Jimmy Fallon's show next week.

NBC revealed next week's schedule for "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" which includes a performance from Lil Wayne on October 2nd. It seems likely that his latest collaboration with Swizz Beatz, "Pistol On My Side," could be the song he ends up performing that evening, but that's yet to be confirmed. Although it seems unlikely, maybe Wayne will debut a new song off of Tha Carter V.

Earlier today, Wayne said that he'll be making an announcement at 5 p.m. It's unsure what he plans on announcing, but many believe it could be the official release date for Tha Carter V. With a late-night performance scheduled for next week, it appears as if he's getting ready to drop the project in the coming weeks.

Aside from his appearance on Jimmy Fallon, Lil Wayne is also scheduled to perform at the X Games alongside The Chainsmokers, Louis The Child and Kygo. Weezy will be performing on Jan. 25th.
