By now, most of you are aware that Lil Wayne’s long awaited Dedication 6 mixtape is finally dropping tomorrow on Christmas Day. Weezy even gave us a preview of the project earlier this week when he shared two remixes over 21 Savage’s “Bank Account” & Jay Z’s “The Story Of OJ,” which he called “Blackin Out” with Euro. Now with just hours before its release, reports have surfaced online (via HHNM) that Dedication 6 might have two versions, or at the very least more new music from Weezy is dropping soon after.
Earlier this week, Weezy stopped by NFL Network’s GameDay Prime and chopped it up with Deion Sanders about the New England Patriots & their dominance. But before he signed off from his video chat, Wayne was asked about what upcoming music he had for us, and he said that they (Mack Maine & Cortez Bryant presumably) were splitting Dedication 6 up, one dropping Christmas and the other soon thereafter. Weezy said he had too many songs that's why they're apparently splitting it up.
“I got Dedication 6 dropping for Christmas. What we ended up doing, I ended doing a whole bunch of songs so they wanna split it up. So they gon’ drop one version for Christmas and they gon’ drop the other songs after that. So thats what I have right now,” Wayne said. “Album wise everybody already know what’s coming out,” he added referring to the long awaited Carter V.
Of course this roll out strategy hasn’t been confirmed or discussed by anyone else so who knows if Wayne is speaking facts here or not, but it's possible we could be getting a free download of Dedication 6 on Christmas and a deluxe version with additional songs to be streamed or purchased following that. That's strictly speculation though and we'll have to wait to find out.
Fast forward to around the 3:03 mark to hear Weezy speak about the roll out, and keep it locked for Dedication 6 to drop tomorrow afternoon on Christmas!
