Lil Wayne's The Carter III officially turns twelve today, and to commemorate the anniversary, we're revisiting one of Weezy's most commercially successful solo joints. Serving as the second single off Tha Carter III, "A Milli" set the tone for TC3, which dropped on this day in 2008, foreshadowing what would go on to be regarded as one of Wayne's best albums to date.
Although we can all agree that chart success and sales are certainly not the sole indicators—or, in many cases, any indicator—of a good song, "A Milli" was undeniably a hit for more than just its commercial value, and to this day remains one of his highest charting songs as a lead artist.
Although Wayne has more than proved himself as one of the most valuable artists to get on a feature, "A Milli" serves as a pointed reminder not only of his ability to merely hold his own, but to absolutely devour a track simply by dropping bar after bar over a tedious beat.
Take a trip down memory lane and revisit this late 2000s hip hop classic below. Although we're sure some of you have every word memorized, we've included some of the most quotable lyrics below.
Quotable Lyrics
A million here, a million there
Sicilian b*tch with long hair, with coke in her derriere
Like smoking the thinnest air
I open the Lamborghini, hopin' them crackers see me
Like, "Look at that bastard Weezy!
