A few years ago, G Herbo released "Gangway" under his old moniker Lil Herb. The DJ L production was pretty solid and Lil Uzi Vert chose that exact beat to rap over for his latest release, effectively coming out of retirement yesterday. We reported earlier today that because of clearance issues, "Free Uzi" was removed from streaming platforms. While many would assume that DJ Drama and Don Cannon had to do with the removal of Uzi's comeback effort, it was apparently a higher power that swung down on the Philly rapper. According to the producer who created the instrumental though, Lil Uzi Vert can do whatever he wants with the beat.
Writing over the original article on his Instagram story, DJ L told fans that Uzi has his blessing to release the song on streaming and make some money off of it. "I own this beat 100 percent," said the producer. "@liluzivert can do whatever the fuck he wanna do to the gangway instrumental." With that said, we should expect the high-pitched record to return to streaming soon. It may not happen today but if DJ L has anything to say about it, Uzi is in the clear.
Have a listen to the song here and take a look at the five things we want the most from Uzi's upcoming album Eternal Atake.
