Lil Uzi Vert did not make it to Quebec for his headlining slot at the Santa Teresa festival Sunday night, and there's a simple explanation: he didn't get into the country. According to an Instagram Live stream Uzi did on Young Thug's account (Thug recently gave him full access), Uzi was doing his best to make it to the show, but for reasons beyond his control, he couldn't get there. This lines up with the festival's statement that the rapper experienced issues with Canadian customs.
"They didn't let me in Canada today. I can't believe they didn't let me in Canada today," he said. "I went to Canada trying to be good. I could have went my ass to the Billboard awards."
The Billboard Music Awards were, in fact, taking place Sunday night, and Uzi was nominated in three categories.
The Philly rapper went on to insist that he was "trying to be good" and get to his scheduled date, since fans have criticized him for not showing up to his concerts in the past.
"Trying to be good, they always say I'm missing shows and shit," he said. "Try to go to Canada. Could have went to the motherfucking Billboard Awards. Could've threw some drip on."

Though it seems Uzi's absence from the festival was neither the fault of the rapper or the festival, fans decided to vandalize the stage after it was announced that the rapper's performance had been canceled.
