It's true that Lil Pump can be a little bit much to take. He certainly shouts a lot, and seems to value drugs and material goods over the well-being of others. In fact, some have even dubbed him the face of the "mumble rap" movement, causing strong resentment from those who dub themselves purists. It's not entirely unfounded, and Pump's seeming inability to open up on a human level makes it difficult to see him as anything other than non-stop persona. Like a wrestler unwilling to break character.
Perhaps the winds of change are blowing. Pump took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt (or at least, as heartfelt as Pump can muster) dedication to his day one homie Smokepurpp. Those familiar with the lore of Pump know that Purpp was the reason he started rapping in the first place, and clearly, he felt compelled to express his gratitude to his fellow Freshman.
"I love dis n***a man fuck all dat rap shit this my blood right here 💖💖," writes Pump, laying the platonic-man-love on thick with a pair of heart emojis. "Thank u for putting me in the position I’m in today if it wasn’t for u I wouldn’t be were I’m at rn." Throw in a picture of the two young men living it up, and it's easy to forget about some of the more dubious antics. Shout out to Pump for this one.
