It's almost been a year since Lil Peep passed away and we'll always miss him dearly. He brought an energy that not many can recreate, blending genres and even being dubbed the Kurt Cobain of "lo-fi rap." In the last few weeks, we've heard new music from the late artist as collaborations with XXXTentacion and iLoveMakonnen surfaced on streaming services. With an album releasing tonight, Peep will be represented well for the next little while. According to his longtime producer, Come Over When You're Sober Pt. 2 will not be the last time we hear Peep on an album though.
In an interview with NME, Smokeasac revealed that Peep was putting his all into a project with iLoveMakonnen, which should eventually be released. He casually said, "There’s an album with iLoveMakonnen. I’m glad to be a part of that. I produced, I think, like six of the songs on the Makonnen album. That’s something people can be excited about, too." The producer went on to say it was some of his best work and that it will release when the time is right. "I speak to Peep’s mom all the time and I want to make sure that she approves of everything. It’s a similar thing, in demo form. It’s a finished album vocals-wise but me and Makonnen will go back into the studio and finish everything off."
COWYS2 drops tonight and will be the first posthumous album from Lil Peep.
